Perhaps you’re asking yourself, “What’s this all about?” Well … let’s start with a few questions.

  • Do you want to know why you were created and find true meaning in your life? Does eternal life inspire you more than the fleeting things in the world?
  •  Are you interested in learning about who Jesus Christ is? Ever heard of the saving Gospel? Have you recently asked yourself, “What’s the Christian life about?” or, “What’s it mean to be Catholic?”
  •  Do you wish to receive the sacraments of initiation? On the other hand, perhaps you don’t know what sacraments are?
  •  Are you unbaptized, and interested in being baptized in the Church?
  • Perhaps you’re already baptized as a Christian but you’re not Catholic, and you want to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church or simply learn more about it?
  • Do you feel drawn to receive the Eucharist, the body and blood of Christ?
  • Are you an adult Catholic who wishes to receive the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist? On the other hand, perhaps you simply want to learn more about the divine faith of the Church?


If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, the Catholic Online School (COS) RCIA program is for you!


What Do I Need to Do to Get Started?

Getting started is easy! Here’s how:

  • Pray and ask God for grace and guidance.
  • Begin by registering with COS as a student. It’s free. Then watch the RCIA introductory videos for students to learn more about the program.
  • Start watching the rest of the videos in the program at your own pace, working through the video lessons, prayers, scripture readings, discussion questions, and quizzes. Our RCIA program includes a wealth of interesting and exciting information that is essential to attaining fulfillment, joy, and happiness in your life.


Unbaptized or Christian but Not Catholic?

  • If you’re unbaptized or a baptized Christian who’s not Catholic, and you want to enter the Catholic Church, you’ll need to contact a local Catholic parish (church) and make the necessary arrangements to join with their RCIA group in conjunction with the COS RCIA program. The reason for this is explained in the introductory videos for students.
  • In the meantime, feel free to begin working your way through the COS RCIA program. Start with the introductory videos and then continue from there.


Already a Baptized Catholic?

  • If you’re a baptized Catholic who wants to receive the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist, you’ll need to coordinate with your local parish to receive those sacraments. In the meantime, you can work through the RCIA program videos, lessons, prayers, scripture readings, discussion questions, and quizzes to learn more about the teaching of Jesus Christ, the sacraments, and many other topics.


No Matter Who You Are …

  • Anyone—yes, anyone—who wants to learn more about the divine faith of the Church Christ founded is welcome to begin watching the videos in the Catholic Online School RCIA program. Begin with the introductory videos and then follow through with the other lessons.

Deacon Frederick Bartels

Deacon Frederick Bartels is a member of the Catholic clergy who serves the Church in the diocese of Pueblo, CO. He received an MA in Theology and Educational Ministry from Catholic Distance University, where he is currently employed as an adjunct professor of theology. He is founder and editor of Joy In Truth (joyintruth.com), an online magazine dedicated to the New Evangelization. As a Catholic educator, public speaker and evangelist, Deacon Bartels strives to infuse culture with the saving principles of the gospel. He lives in Colorado with his wife, Shelly, and the youngest two of their six children. Professor Bartels is Chairman of the Theology Department.
